For the next few months, we will be exploring the book of Acts in a series titled Acts: The Gospel of the Holy Spirit. People often ask me about donations, so, here are some crypto addresses. Any donations will be re-invested in producing content.

Our Mission

WordPress is software designed for everyone, emphasizing accessibility, performance, security, and ease of use. We believe great software should work with minimum set up, so you can focus on sharing your story, product, or services freely. The basic WordPress software is simple and predictable so you can easily get started. It also offers powerful features for growth and success.

We believe in democratizing publishing and the freedoms that come with open source. Supporting this idea is a large community of people collaborating on and contributing to this project. The WordPress community is welcoming and inclusive. Our contributors’ passion drives the success of WordPress which, in turn, helps you reach your goals.

Wordpresscom

WordPress contributors work around the globe, and have dedicated countless hours to build a tool that democratizes publishing. WordPress is open source software that is both free and priceless.

Our Story

WordPress started in 2003 when Mike Little and Matt Mullenweg created a fork of b2/cafelog. The need for an elegant, well-architected personal publishing system was clear even then. Today, WordPress is built on PHP and MySQL, and licensed under the GPLv2. It is also the platform of choice for over 41% of all sites across the web.

The WordPress open source project has evolved in progressive ways over time — supported by skilled, enthusiastic developers, designers, scientists, bloggers, and more. WordPress provides the opportunity for anyone to create and share, from handcrafted personal anecdotes to world-changing movements. People with a limited tech experience can use it “out of the box”, and more tech-savvy folks can customize it in remarkable ways.

Bill of Rights

WordPress is licensed under the General Public License (GPLv2 or later) which provides four core freedoms. Consider this the WordPress Bill of Rights:

The 1st Freedom

To run the program for any purpose.

The 2nd Freedom

To study how the program works and change it to make it do what you wish.

The 3rd Freedom

To redistribute.

The 4th Freedom

To distribute copies of your modified versions to others.

SARC averages a tutorial staff of 35-40 peer tutors per semester with tutors offering assistance for over 300 hours per week at the labs. Tutoring labs / facilities include our SARC location at TCH 117 and CECS location at Engineering I Room 281, and VARC location at the Arena next to Jimmy Johns. If you view one of the tutoring schedules and don’t see a subject being offered, view our other facility calendars and attend a session there. All students are welcome to attend any session at any lab. You can find more information on the tutoring wordpress site.

The Academic Coaching and Engagement (ACE) Program facilitates academic success among UCF students by providing one-on-one, ongoing peer coaching. Academic coaches help students develop important academic and life skills such as organization, time management, study skills, and goal setting, which are necessary to ensure satisfactory academic progress. ACE coaches are available to meet with students regularly throughout the semester to provide students the opportunity to check in on their progress, stay accountable for the goals and action plans devised in previous sessions, and become more engaged in campus life and organizations.

SARC offers Online Peer Assisted Learning (OPAL) sessions for selected UCF courses using Adobe Connect. OPAL sessions allow you to attend a study group with a SARC peer tutor or SI leader from anywhere, as long as you have access to a computer with internet connection. OPAL sessions are a great option for online students or those who are not able to attend regularly scheduled peer tutoring or SI sessions at the Orlando Campus.

The College Level Study Skills Inventory will assist in providing students immediate feedback on their current approach to college level study skills. There are six critical study skills college students need to consistently be developing: text book reading, note taking, memory, test preparation, concentration, and time management. At the conclusion of the inventory, each of these skills will be assessed based on the manner in which the questions were answered.
